Lost in adaptation, ‘Hunger Games’ fails to make the non-fans care

One of the most over-hyped movies of the year, has been ‘Hunger Games’. Of course, if you’ve read the books, you might think it was the greatest movie of the year. However, I haven’t read any of the books and after seeing the movie, I have no plans to. The movie fails on every level to generate any sympathy for the characters or what they are going through. The acting is pretty stiff, especially for both male leads.

I know fans of the books have been salivating over the possibility of seeing the continuing adventures of Katniss and company, but I just don’t see what the big deal is. My wife and son say, “well, you have to read the books to understand….”– actually how about put it in the movie so I care when I watch.
