‘Anna Karenina’ bends reality line between stage and screen — movie review

Many consider Leo Tolstoy’s novel, “Anna Karenina” to be the greatest love stories ever told. Over the years, the years there have been numerous adaptations of the serial novel that was published from 1873 to 1877. The latest version from director Joe Wright (“Atonement”) is a movie filled with love and hope but also heartbreak and tragedy as well as a visual treat that will not soon be forgotten. It is the story of love, of great love– powerful love and all the stupid things love can make us do. It is also a heart-breaking tale of the tragically selfish things love can draw us into. Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pi’ is a spectacular visual and emotional experience — movie review

Based on the novel by Yann Martel, “Life of Pi” is the story of Piscine Molitor Patel, a precocious boy living in India who embarks on a journey of self discovery set off by unpredictable and horrific events. Before getting to those tragic events, however, the film begins with a writer, played by Rafe Spall (“Prometheus”), sitting down to interview an older Pi, played by Irrfan Khan (“The Amazing Spider-Man”).
